I decided to paint roosters for two reasons. It was the year of the rooster in the Chinese calendar and I love how colourful they are. I photographed these roosters in the West Indies where they run wild in many areas. I loved the yard with the colourful flowers and the palm trees and decided the roosters would reside within its borders.
